FAQs

Interested in joining us for a class? We got you, mama. Here is everything you need to know.

Safety Protocols

Are you practicing in-person safe distancing?

Yes, all of our in-person workout classes are set-up for moms to be 6+ feet apart from one another and the instructor at all times. In classes that move between stations, face masks are encouraged when less than 6 feet away from others.

Do I have to wear a face mask during workout classes?

Masks are encouraged whenever less than 6 feet away from others. Based on current CDC and NY State Department of Health guidelines, it is optional for fully vaccinated people to wear masks when outdoors.

Cardio intensity options will be provided for the comfort of anyone who prefers to remain masked throughout the workout.

Are you sharing equipment during classes?

No, there will be no shared equipment. You are required to use a Fit4Mom resistance band and bring to each in-person class (or use at home for virtual classes). This is included in your membership registration fee. If this is your 1st class, or you forgot your band, instructors will offer bodyweight only modification options.

Can children come out of the strollers during class?

Children must remain either strapped into the stroller at all times during class or can be safely worn in a baby carrier. If child must be removed from stroller to eat, please do so at your cone and then promptly buckle them back into the stroller (or back into carrier) when finished eating.

Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis for children over the age of 5. You must speak to an instructor and/or the Franchise Owner before attending class to receive exception permission.

Can I come to class if I traveled recently?

Anyone who has traveled outside of New York must follow the NY State travel guidelines. You are welcome to join our virtual classes if quarantine is required. Email brooklyn@fit4mom.com to register for virtual options.

Can I come to class if I was sick recently?

If you or a family member have been sick (fever, cough, etc) recently, please refrain from attending in-person classes until you have been fever free and symptom free for at least 3 - 5 days. If you or anyone in your family has tested positive for covid, please follow the CDC quarantine guidelines before returning to in-person classes or playgroups. If you are feeling up to working out, we'd love to have you join us virtually while quarantined! Email brooklyn@fit4mom.com to register.

Inclement Weather Policies

Do you still meet in the rain? The snow? The cold?

Yes, we meet in all weather: rain, sun, snow, and cold. We aim to spend as much time outside as possible. Classes will be offered virtually only in the case of dangerous weather: hurricanes, blizzards, lightning, etc.

What is your inclement weather policy?

We are outdoors rain or shine; inclement weather for us means dangerous conditions only, such as severe cold, wind advisories, lightning, and thunderstorms. We encourage our clients to layer appropriately, bring rain covers and umbrellas, etc. for all weather conditions. We will provide safe and fun workouts based on the park conditions. In case of dangerous weather conditions (as listed above), we will offer a LIVE virtual workout or pre-recorded workout. A class will not be deducted from class plans for virtual workouts.

Virtual Studio

What if my house and I are a hot mess?

We don't care! Come 100% as you are and with your home as it is. We have always prided ourselves in offering a judgement free community, and we don't want this space to feel any differently.

Where is the virtual class studio?

Wherever you are with an internet connection! You will need a computer with a web browser or a mobile device with the Zoom app. We recommend using a computer or tv screen to most easily follow along with the workout.

How do I get access to the virtual studio classes?

Prospective Members: Once you fill out our free class form and are contacted by Liz or Allie, we will schedule you for your first trial class.

Current Members: When you register for the class in Pike13, you will receive a confirmation email with Zoom links. Please note that the Zoom link and passwords change weekly. The most up-to-date link and password will be sent in your 24-hour out email reminder.

You can also find the Zoom links and passwords in our private member portal.

  • Water
  • Exercise Mat or Towel
  • Resistance Tube Band, hand weights, or any equally weighted handheld objects.

You can begin attending class with your doctor's clearance to begin exercising, typically after your six week postpartum appointment. See you there, Mama!

Can I attend classes if I am pregnant?

Absolutely! We encourage expectant moms to continue to exercise throughout their pregnancies as long as everything has been approved by their physician. Instructors are qualified to lead our professionally designed pre/postnatal fitness programs that follow the latest American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) guidelines. We can modify any exercise that poses a challenge as you progress through your pregnancy. FIT4MOM® recommends you obtain your doctor’s approval prior to beginning Stroller Strides/Stroller Barre. If pregnant, please speak with your physician before your first day.

Exercise during pregnancy has proven beneficial and helps improve or increase the following:

  • Cardiovascular fitness

  • Muscular strength/endurance

  • Energy levels

  • Higher fatigue threshold

  • Posture and biomechanics

  • Circulation

  • Self-esteem, sense of well-being

  • Recovery time

How will I know if the class location has changed due to weather?

In case of inclement weather, outdoor classes will meet virtually instead. Follow us on Facebook and check for updates an hour before class starts. We also send notifications to our client list via email if we have enough advance notice.

Do I need to be a Runner to attend these classes?

Absolutely not! Stroller Strides/Stroller Barre is for moms of ALL fitness levels. You exercise at the pace you feel most comfortable.

At what age can my baby be in a jogger?

As a general guideline, when your baby can hold his/her head up, he/she can ride in a jogger. But, we suggest that you follow your own stroller manufacturer’s guidelines. You can use a head roll and bolster to make your baby even more secure. With shock absorbers and recline features, the age can be quite young.

Do I need a jogging stroller for the workout?

Jogging strollers are not required. As long as the stroller is sturdy, not prone to tipping and all children can be safely strapped into their seats for the duration of class, it will work just fine!

My Baby doesn't like being in the stroller for too long, how will I get a good workout?

Babies are priority, so don't worry if your baby becomes fussy during class! Our classes are designed to keep the kids engaged by incorporating songs and various props to keep them entertained. With that said, if you need to change, nurse or console your baby, please do so (remember, you are in good company). Kids will have good and bad days and we understand that. The kiddos learn the new routine of "Mommy's hour" and learn a few things during our workout too!

How old does my baby need to be to start classes?

Babies and kids can join you at Stroller Strides/Stroller Barre up to any age as long as they can still safely be buckled in the stroller. We recommend waiting until you have medical clearance from your physician (normally this is 6-8 weeks postpartum). Always obtain your doctor's permission before starting this or any other kind of exercise program.

What do I do if my baby gets fussy during class?

That's okay! Sometimes babies cry. You will be in a group full of moms with their kids - we've all been there and we all get it. You're always able to do what you need to do to take care of your little one.

What if I need to feed my baby during class?

We’ve got you, Mama! If you need to change, nurse or console your baby, please do so. Your instructor will make sure to provide you with comfort and discretion during class.

Can my older children walk along or ride their bike during class?

Safety is our first priority, so we do not allow kids to be out of the stroller during class, regardless of age.

No, Fit4Mom Brooklyn does not support diets or diet culture. Our 8-week workout program does not include weigh ins, measurements, or a strict diet plan. 95% of diets fail and professionals have linked diet culture to eating disorders, mental health issues, and even death. Read more on why we don't support or promote diets here.

Our 8-week program will encourage you to eat nutritional, whole foods that help fuel your body for a great workout and active lifestyle, help promote healthy sleep and energized days, and make you feel your very best.
