The class has been a lifesaver for me. I couldn't wait to get back to exercise after I had my baby and having a class where I could bring her with me allowed me to work out a lot more frequently than I could have otherwise. Beyond the exercise benefits, it's been great to meet other moms and get some fresh air in Prospect Park.more
Not only did I lose the baby weight that I had been carrying around for years, but I started eating healthier, had more energy and met some kick ass other moms in the neighborhood. I really can't speak highly enough about this program.
If you are like me and cannot seem to get yourself to the gym, the classes are the perfect motivation to start working out again. I loved being able to stroll into the park and workout outside among the trees and fresh air, while doing exercises that were a lot more engaging than just running.more
I was not a runner when I started the Couch to 5K program. Let's face it: I was not even an exerciser. But the Brooklyn Moms Run Club has changed my body and mind and ...I love it.
The people, the needing-to-show-upness, the setting, the encouragement. Somewhere in the middle of a park loop I realized that because I'm a mom (not in spite of it) I'm worth the gifts of speed, endurance and time- and I can give them to myself.more
I wanted to say what a great experience I had being a part of the class. I know sometimes I am a little awkward getting to know every one, but we loved coming every week. Seriously, I think I would have killed myself last winter if we didn't have that to look forward tomore
I just completed the second round of Body Back. The coach, AnnaCatherine Rutledge, also teaches Stroller Strides, is fantastic --somehow mellow but inspiring at the same time. Body Back is basically interval training interwoven with food challenges that get you thinking about portion size, what you eat, and so forth. I have much more energy, feel stronger and have lost a ton of weight -- definitely a bonus!more
I'd recommend the Stroller Strides classes that take place in Prospect Park. They're a real workout, kids / babies get to socialize with other little ones, classes are reasonably priced, and the owner / instructor Anna Catherine is always willing to help out with fussy little ones.more
When I joined the Couch to 5K program I really expected it to be a short term thing, something I'd join to just get myself back into running. I was pleasantly surprised at what an impact running with a group would have.
Jen is a perfect coach who works with runners with varying abilities and experience. That's a talent. I get just the right amount of push, and the perfect dosage of inspiration and motivation from her. I'm excited to continue running with the group.more
